Atria Residents and Their Families Recall “Moments That Made a Difference”
Atria completed a project called My Favorite Atria Moments, where local communities collected stories about residents’ and their families' favorite memories and experiences since coming to live at Atria. These words help Atria’s employees remember how their quality service impacts each resident on a day-to-day basis.
My introduction to Atria Forest Lake was a revelation of how welcoming an assisted living community could be from the first step onto the front porch and into the living areas. I’m grateful for the efforts of the management to provide interesting activities for the residents that tie us to the community and its cultural environment. Atria feels like home.
- Joseph H., Atria Forest Lake resident
My father’s move to assisted living was made easy by the welcoming attention of the entire management and staff of Atria Forest Lake, who attended to every detail, question, concern and request. I’m now free to travel or work out of town knowing that my father is safe and well-looked after with loving attention. I am worry-free!

Thank you from all of my family for making Mom feel special in living there at Atria Meridian. You always go the extra step. Please know how much it is appreciated.

Everything here is so clean, all the staff members are pleasant and I never find time to sit down with all the running I do from activity to activity! Because all the laundry, cooking, cleaning and tidying up are done for you, living here is like living in a palace!

Our 95-year-old mother is a resident at Atria Shorehaven. When her sister passed away, we were very concerned how this tragic news would affect her. The staff members went out of their way to provide care and comfort to our mom, some even staying after their shifts to visit and talk to her. When thanked for giving beyond what is expected, their answer was, ‘We’re family here.’
- John and Linda, children of Mary, an Atria Shorehaven resident
The staff at Atria Sunnyvale are client-oriented. There are people here who are really concerned for us. Who else would come in to remind you a second time about breakfast?
- Irwin C., Resident
I moved here from a residential care home. There is no comparison. I love it here – the people are nice, the food is good, and there are plenty of activities.
- Lea M., Resident
Atria Sugar Land has been incredible. The combination of nutritious meals, caring attention by the staff and overseeing of my mother’s daily activities has resulted in a marked improvement in both her attitude and appearance. The competence, courtesy and compassion shown by the staff is beyond outstanding. During a time that can be incredibly stressful, Atria has taken a major burden off my entire family’s shoulders. The entire staff has exceeded expectations.
- Dave R., son of Atria Sugar Land resident
My mom is so very happy being a resident at Atria Kennebunk, and I am delighted for her. The building and grounds are lovely, but it is the competent, professional, caring and warm members of management and staff who make Atria Kennebunk such a special place to live.

I have wonderful friends, exercise classes to keep my body agile and games to keep my mind alert, outside entertainment brought in often, special events I help to plan, a driver to take me on errands and to appointments, and a small vegetable garden to enjoy. I am content to stay here the rest of my days.
- Juanita E., Atria Valley Manor resident
I do not enjoy living alone, so Atria Covell Gardens is just right for me. I enjoy the people here and the companionship they offer, as well as all the events, classes and parties.
